Pallav Chander - Visiting Artist in Printmaking - School of Art, Art History, and Design

Pallav Chander is a multifaceted artist whose art practice spans printmaking, painting, acting, and directing, With a bold and distinctive style characterized by thick contrasting layers, Pallav's artworks challenge conventional narratives and invite viewers to explore the depths of their own interpretations.

Drawing inspiration from his personal experiences with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD, Pallav's art serves as a visual representation of his life, incorporating chaotic arrangements and bold abstract expressionism. Through solo and group exhibitions across India, Pallav shares his unique perspective, transforming human and animal worlds into visual narratives.

Deeply inspired by the raw emotion and intensity of Vincent van Gogh's art, Pallav infuses his own works with bright, vivid colors and chaotic motifs, aiming to evoke inner disquiet and angst in his audience. Rejecting conformity, Pallav emphasizes the importance of staying true to one's artistic vision, believing that originality is the key to long-term success.

Born and raised in Delhi to artistic parents, Pallav's passion for art was ignited during childhood despite initial struggles with painting. After pursuing his Bachelor of Art (BFA) from Birmingham City University, UK, Pallav returned to Delhi, where he maintains parallel careers in both painting and theater. For Pallav, theater and painting are intertwined, with each informing and enriching the other as he treats his canvas like an extension of the stage, painting layers upon layers to compose his visual narratives.

With accolades such as the Junior Fellowship from the Indian Ministry of Culture and over three major solo exhibitions to his name, Pallav Chander continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression.
